Frequently Asked Questions

Who owns the copyright of the 360 photos?

We've made the terms favourable to the photographer in terms of copyright, and to the buyer in terms of usefulness. The Buyer (customer) can do a lot with the photos including creating derivative works. But the copyright ownership remains with the Seller (photographer). As per clause 5 of our Terms and conditions,

5. Unless otherwise agreed to in writing between the relevant parties, the copyright of all content created by a Seller, including any derivative works made under licence by other users such as Buyers and Viewers, remains with the Seller.

Can I use an animated GIF for my profile photo?

Yes. Your profile photo or logo can me an animated GIF, a transparent GIF (static or animated), PNG with or without transparent/alpha (semi-transparent) regions or a JPEG (.jpg or .jpeg).

All logo images should be square (i.e., height and width should be the same). If you are using a transparent GIF, make sure that it is no bigger than 160x160 pixels. Any logo/profile image than is larger than 160x160 pixels will be scaled down and no longer be animated.

When displayed on your profile page, your logo/profile photo will be displayed in a circlular region. So anything outside this circle will not be visible.

See https://my360shop.com/pp2/ for an example of a logo with a transparent animated GIF.

SEO and SMO - Do you optimize for search engines and social media?

Yes, your profile, photos and galleries are all optimized. Search Engine Optimization and Social Media Optimization are all part of what My 360 Shop does for your amazing content. So make the most of our carefully thought out design, and add your winning tagline, blurb and 360 photos!

We’ve put a lot of love into the creation of My 360 Shop. We’ve put thought into everything, right down to the very small details of how and where your personal tagline, blurb and signature appear. After all, our business is all about making you look great. So if you don't look great, we don't look great.

We’ve found that if the thumbnail is a certain size, it will show as a full width image, in Facebook on mobile, but the blurb won’t be displayed. So we’ve set your gallery and profile thumbnails to a size where it shows on the left and your all-important blurb is still shown. See, told you we’ve put a lot of thought in.

We’ve also made sure that “360° photo” and “360° photos” appear on the page for SEO benefit. Fun fact: Did you know that Google recently merged the results for “360 photo” and “360° photos”? This means that if you have a website, it doesn’t matter which one you use now.

What types and sizes of files are supported?

We support JPEG, GIF and PNG file types with the extensions .jpg, .jpeg, .gif and .png.

Photos for the 360° viewer should be in equilateral projection with an aspect ratio of 2:1. In other words, the width should be exactly double the height.  You should also make sure that your photos have 360 (EXIF) meta data. If they don’t, your customer will not be able to post the photo as 360° in Facebook.

Traditional (non-360) photos can be in any proportion or dimensions, so you can upload square tiny planets or full frame DSLR photos. If you wish to create a custom watermark, these should be 517 x 345 PNG files. For best results, use our watermark template.

Files should be no more than 20MB.

What's the difference between a Public and a Private Gallery?

There are 2 easy ways to sell 360 photos on My 360 Shop.

1. Private gallery

The first way is to create a private gallery, using the Create Private gallery option. This allows you to sell your 360 photos directly to a customer via their email address. You create a private gallery when you already have a customer who has agreed to buy one or more photos from you.

When you create a private gallery and add your 360° photo(s) to it, the link to the gallery preview is delivered from My 360 Shop, straight to the inbox of your customer. They will then be able to interact with it once by looking around the 360 photos and viewing them in fullscreen if they want to.

Have a look at this demo gallery to show you what a private gallery would look and feel like. The payment feature has been disabled, as it is just a demo, but the other functionality is the same as a real one. Once the customer pays for the gallery, they will then be able to:

Here's an example of a private gallery that has been paid for. Feel free to download the photo or try out the tiny planet and embedding features.

If they don't pay, the preview will expire and the gallery will display static images of the 360 photos.

With a Private gallery, the email that your customer receives will be customized with your signature and social media links (which you set in your user profile). The reply-to address will also be your email address, so when they respond to the email, it will come straight to you.

2. Public gallery

The second way to sell your 360 photos on My 360 Shop is to create a public gallery or event using the Create Public gallery option. This lets you put your photos into an open gallery or exhibition which will be visible online to buyers around the world. Use a public gallery to present a lot of photos to a wide audience, like at a wedding, a party or other such event.

The event doesn't have to be a live one where you are meeting potential customers, though. The public gallery can be used to create an online exhibition that is always open to your potential buyers.

With a public gallery, you get a short URL to share with your potential buyers. As you add more photos to the gallery, they are viewable at this URL straight away, so a pulic gallery is perfect for live events. You get to choose whether these previews are in high-res or low-res. The public gallery also supports traditional non-360° photos. On the Pro plan, you can choose whether to display a watermark over these photos or not.  You can even choose your own custom watermark. The public gallery doesn't expire (unless you decide to end it by hiding the gallery).

The customer gets to browse the gallery and look around the 360° photos. They can add as many of these photos as they like to the shopping cart. They can then check out and pay for their selection. This will then create a new link to a Private gallery that is fully paid for. This means that they will then be able to download, embed or make tiny planets with the photos they have bought.

Here are a few public galleries:

Can a buyer ask you to remove photos or galleries?

Yes, buyers can ask for their photos or private galleries to be removed from the website, but they must contact My 360 Shop support. The reason for this is that we need to verify that they are the purchaser of the photos. In order to do this, they must authorize the removal with a link that will be sent to the email of the original buyer.

With regards to Public galleries, you can delete photos that you have added, by going to your Dashboard. So if someone asks you to remove a photo of them from a public gallery, you must do this as soon as possible.

Where do the the Seller tagline and blurb appear?

When you set up your Seller profile, you will be asked for a tagline and a blurb. These are optional fields. The text that you enter in the tagline will appear on your public profile page (https://my360shop.com/username/) as well as on the email sent to the Buyer. The blurb text will appear on the public profile page only.

The tagline and blurb will also appear when your profile page or any galleries are shared in social media. We have performed social media optimization on these pages, so when someone shares one of your galleries or your profile page in Facebook, this is how it will look:

What fees does PayPal charge?

PayPal fees on your 360 photo gallery sales will vary from country to country and will also depend on whether there are any currency conversions involved. For instance, there will be less fees charged if you are selling in the default currency that you have set in your PayPal account. If you are an Australian merchant, the fees are outlined at https://www.paypal.com/webapps/mpp/ua/cfsgpds-full?country.x=AU#int_18_Fees_and_charges.
